Blog 3: A short update
A shorter entry today - not least because we are at the end of what seems to have been a very blustery and rainy week. Here at the Magnard Ensemble, all our anticipation is building to next Wednesday and Thursday (2nd and 3rd December), when we finally reach the culmination of our project with Wigmore Hall Learning, which has been four weeks in the running but many, many more months in the planning and preparing.
This week saw Jon, Cat and myself return to Manorfield Primary School, Poplar for the second of our 'creative' sessions, during which we helped the children work on their pieces, fine-tune their structures, and work out the ways in which the other members of the Magnard Ensemble, upon returning in the final sessions this coming week, will fit in and contribute to the musical storytelling. Needless to say, it was a fantastic, engaging and productive morning!
As mentioned above, this coming Wednesday will see us put together the pieces with the remaining members of the Magnard Ensemble, rehearse them, and perform them alongside Three Little Pigs, all whilst being filmed by a camera crew! Whew. It's going to be a super-busy morning, Following that, we do the whole thing again at Wigmore Hall the following day, this time with the camera crew there as well as an invited audience! We're so excited, and we can't wait to share with you the results of all the hard work that the children have put in.
Until next time,
xx
