Blog 18: Deep breath...
Fresh from a wonderful fundraising recital in Thame, Oxfordshire (hometown of our flautist Suzie), we are about to enter a very busy week for us here at Magnard Towers. Before Mana jets off to Japan next Friday, we have a major audition to get through on Thursday, for which we have to prepare 100 minutes of repertoire (!), so it has been full-steam ahead with meticulous preparation for that! Not to mention the small matter of our Roald Dahl recording which is happening in April...!
However, we will be starting off our crazy week with one of our school workshops with the Cavatina Chamber Music Trust, in in a primary school near Forest Hill. The Trust does amazing work bringing classical chamber music to schoolchildren throughout Greater London, as well as putting on and sponsoring chamber music concerts in major venues. We were deeply saddened to learn that one of the founders, Pamela Majaro MBE, passed away recently. The Magnard Ensemble were honoured to be chosen to represent the Trust in their work, joining the roster of such wonderfully inspiring, dynamic and passionate chamber musicians. Not only did Pamela give us the opportunity to hone and develop our skills as educators and communicators, she played an integral role in kickstarting our professional career as an ensemble, for which we will always be immensely grateful. We will be dedicating our concert on Monday to her memory, and to the tireless and unceasing enthusiasm she had for the power that music holds to transform and change lives.
So #teampig, deep breath, and see you on the other side.
